Great big fun

Great big fun. As an older gentleman, stability is key. And stable the Radar kayak is. It also comes apart and fits in my Ford Escape. My advise to anyone buying one… get the riser kit for the seat.

Assembly Guide

  • Why you will love it

Whether you're launching from a crowded city ramp or packing light for a weekend escape, this kayak delivers portable convenience, quiet efficiency, fishing-focused functionality, and all-around stability—ideal for anglers seeking that sweet spot of size, performance, and adaptability. At just 69lb total (split into two 35 lb halves), this kayak remains sturdy yet easy to handle—whether you're launching solo or loading it up for a weekend trip

  • Pedal power

This system's flaps ensure silent, obstacle-free movement, allowing you to glide through shallows, near docks, and around stumps without getting tangled in reeds or weeds. At just 11lbs, it's lighter and faster than prop drive, giving you a speed advantage and letting you carry extra gear. The sleek, compact design makes it easier to store when not in use. Upgrade your angling adventure today!

  • Reel Talk

While the modular design makes transport and storage simple, the interlocking pieces use latches located underneath, so the kayak needs to be rolled on its side to connect and disconnect them. The large forward storage area is open to the elements, making it ideal for quick-access gear but less protective for items that need to stay dry. With its size, the Radar is best suited for medium-sized cars, striking a practical balance between portability and on-water performance.

  • Mounts

This kayak has three options to mount a trolling motor if you're looking at powered options. A motor can be mounted in the pedal Pedal Power recess, on a side bar to the left or right of the rear cargo hold or by replacing the rudder.

  • Assembly

Our Radar uses an interlocking system with the front section interlocking into the rear and has added security of 3 latches underneath and two latches on top.

  • Seating

FAQs

The Radar 10ft splits into two halves — front section approximately 58.6" x 32.7" x 14.5", back section approximately 57.9" x 32.7" x 13" — that fit in the trunk or back seat of most SUVs, hatchbacks, and many sedans without a roof rack or trailer. Each section weighs roughly 32–36 lbs, so one person can load it solo.

Yes. The Radar uses a 33-inch wide hull with a flat W-shape designed for stand-up stability. Most anglers up to around 230 lbs can stand and fish comfortably in calm water. Heavier paddlers, or those fishing in strong current or boat wake, may prefer to fish seated for the best stability.

The Radar 10ft has a usable weight capacity of 430 lbs (total hull capacity 515 lbs). That figure includes you, your gear, tackle, fish finder, battery, cooler, and any catch — plan around the loaded weight, not just body weight.

A fin drive uses two paddle-like flaps that move side-to-side as you pedal — silent, weed-free, and ideal in shallows around docks and structure. A propeller drive uses a screw prop that's faster in open water and offers instant reverse for tight spots. The Radar 10ft is fin-drive; the Recon 10ft is the equivalent propeller-drive model if you want speed and reverse over weed clearance.

Under 5 minutes once you're familiar with it. The two halves interlock at the seam and clip together with 3 latches underneath plus 2 on top — no tools required. The kayak needs to be rolled on its side once to access the underside latches.

Each Radar ships with the kayak (2 sections), the fin pedal drive with spare fins, a kayak paddle, a padded stadium seat, a 360° rod holder, two flush-mount rod holders, two accessory rail tracks, a forward hatch, an 8" cockpit hatch, four scupper plugs, and bow/stern plus side carry handles. The standard seat can be upgraded at checkout to seat-raisers, a 3-tier adjustable, or a 360° swivel.

Yes — three mounting options: in the pedal-drive recess, on a side bar to the left or right of the rear cargo hold, or by replacing the rudder. A reinforced rear mount, deep battery box, and recessed transducer mount are built in, so you can run a trolling motor and a fish-finder/sonar setup together.

Every Reel Yaks kayak comes with a clear, no-nonsense warranty designed to protect you from manufacturing defects.

• Hull & deck: 2 years (full-price kayaks)

• Pedal drive: 1 year

• Parts & accessories: 90 days

The warranty applies to the original purchaser and covers defects in materials and workmanship. It does not cover normal wear and tear, misuse, accidents, transport damage after delivery, unauthorized modifications, or commercial use. Kayaks must be registered within 30 days of purchase.

Yes, returns are accepted within 30 days of delivery provided the kayak is unused and in original condition. Before returning any item, you must contact our support team to obtain a Return Authorization (RA).

Please note:

  • Customers are responsible for return shipping costs
  • Sale items are non-refundable

Kayak shipping is free within the contiguous USA and Canada. Kayaks ship via freight (LTL). The carrier will contact you 24–48 hours prior to delivery to schedule drop‑off.

• In‑stock kayaks: typically 1–2 weeks after shipment

Yes. Reel Yaks kayaks are modular hard‑shell designs that break down into 2 or 3 manageable sections. They fit in many sedans, hatchbacks, and SUVs and store easily in apartments or garages. No roof racks or trailers required. Assembly is tool‑free and takes only minutes once familiar.

  1. A decent product

    ★★★★★ · · · Verified buyer

Received damaged but was fairly compensated for that. Design of clips could be so much better. As they are they can be easily damaged or bent when disconnected. Parts seem excessively high. I wanted a simple plug for the footwell when I’m out just padding so things don’t fall through the hole. Y’all want $100 just for that. Otherwise many screws needed tightening but am enjoying the kayak otherwise.

    ★★★★★ · ·

I'm very happy with my purchase. It's easy to carry in the car and easy to store in the garage. Easy to assemble, Seat is very comfortable and I love the design. I use it a lot in the bay, and because of the current caused by large boats, the wind, and my 260-pound weight, I can't stand up and fish as advertised. But I'm sure if the person is lighter and fishes in an area where there's no current, they could stand up in the kayak without any problem. Despite all this, I'm very satisfied with my kayak.
