Great concept (of three-piece kayak) for those of us who are truckless and do not want to trailer, cartop, or lose climate control by having the boat hang out the back of an SUV. Also, it makes transport AND storage much easier (and less back-straining). 👍🏼👍🏼 Decaling is bubbling, but that’s about the only issue I’ve noticed.
I am very happy that I purchased this Kayak. Im looking forward to some awesome times out on the waters. Delivery was well before expected and everything was nicely packed amd protected.
Can't wait to use it! This was a long-term reward for my fishing-obsessed middle-schooler - a smaller, more portable fishing kayak that he can physically manage by himself. Arrived in MN winter, so we haven't been able to get it on the water, but so far it exceeds expectations. The modular design is easy to assemble and disassemble, it came with storage bags for each half, which is cool. It also came with some spare fins for the pedal drive, which was thoughtful. The detachable rod holder is very nice. The seat is comfy. It arrived ahead of schedule, which was also a pleasant surprise. Through months of snowbound winter research, we looked at lots of kayaks, some cheaper and many more expensive, but transportation of a big, heavy, one-piece kayak is a real barrier to getting out there and enjoying time on the water. This is a great solution to that. Overall, I can confidently give it 5 stars for everything on dry land...now we just have to make sure it floats once it warms up!
So to be fully transparent my review for this kayak is 4.5 out of 5 due to a few little things. The first is the rudder pull cable is just 550 cord which worries me because if it ever snaps I’m not sure what to do. Now to be clear there is a safety pin on the rudder you can use to flip and lock it down if that situation happens so you’ll have to be very careful around shallow water or things like submerged vertical structure but at least you won’t be totally rudderless Second issue is a benefit for transport but a little bit hard to deal with on water and that’s the length and width of the vessel. It fits perfectly in my 2017 Kia Soul but there lies the issue. The 9.5ft length is great for storing, transporting, and being on the water. But it being under 10ft long means it’s probably just an inch or two too narrow for a guy my size. This kayak is perfect for anyone 5’10” and under. I’m 6’2” and 215lbs so the first day on water I had to learn how to sit in it so I didn’t feel super wobbly. If you are a taller person you can still use this vessel safely and comfortably but you’ll have to do a lot of adjustment to the pedals and seat back till you find that sweet spot. Overall I’ve had fun with the kayak; it is my first one ever and I think I’m gonna get a a lot of good times out on the water because of it.
I have been looking into getting my first fishing kayak for about a year. I live in an apartment, so I searched for something that wouldn’t take up too much space. I have a 2014 Ford Fusion and am easily able to transport the kayak in the backseat of my vehicle. I love the gear tracks and have added a few attachments (cup holder, rod holder, camera). I look forward to adding a trolling motor to this beauty but the fin drive and paddle work just perfect! I can’t wait to get back on the water!
