The Raptor is the lightest, most portable kayak in the Reel Yaks lineup — designed for anglers who don't have a garage, truck, or roof rack. Each section is about 27–30 lbs, fits in a hatchback boot, and stores upright in an apartment hallway. Ideal for solo anglers in cities, apartment dwellers, and anyone whose vehicle and storage situation rules out a traditional kayak.

The Raptor splits into two sections — both about 55″ × 31″ × 11–12.5″, each weighing 27–30 lbs. The sections fit in the trunk or back seat of most hatchbacks, sedans, and small SUVs. Customers regularly transport it in vehicles like the Honda Odyssey, Toyota RAV4, and Ford Edge — no roof rack required.

380 lbs usable (452 lbs total hull capacity). Plan around the loaded weight including yourself, gear, tackle, fish finder, battery, cooler, and any catch.

Yes, in calm to moderate conditions, but the Raptor's 30-inch hull is narrower than the wider models in the range (Rocket, Radar, Recon at 33–35 inches). Most anglers up to about 200 lbs can stand and fish comfortably on flat water. If you want maximum standing stability, consider the Rocket 9.8ft or Radar 10ft instead.

The Raptor is shorter (9.5ft vs 9.8ft) and narrower (30″ vs 35″). The Rocket is wider so it's more stable for standing casts and has higher capacity (400lbs vs 380lbs). The Raptor is lighter, more compact, and the most portable kayak in the range. Choose Raptor for portability; choose Rocket for stability.

The fin drive is silent and weed-free — better for stealth fishing in shallow flats. The propeller drive offers instant reverse for backing away from docks or repositioning in current. Both are on the same Raptor 9.5ft hull. Choose fin for stealth, prop for control around structure.

The modular design is easy to assemble and disassemble, it came with storage bags for each half, which is cool. It also came with some spare fins for the pedal drive, which was thoughtful. The detachable rod holder is very nice. The seat is comfy. It arrived ahead of schedule, which was also a pleasant surprise. Through months of snowbound winter research, we looked at lots of kayaks, some cheaper and many more expensive, but transportation of a big, heavy, one-piece kayak is a real barrier to getting out there and enjoying time on the water. This is a great solution to that. Overall, I can confidently give it 5 stars for everything on dry land...now we just have to make sure it floats once it warms up!
