  • Why you will love it

This kayak has a flush-mounted rudder for easy transport and a reinforced rear mount for trolling motor.. Navigation light mounts boost safety for early or late trips, delivering durability and convenience in one versatile kayak.

  • Pedal power

Conquer currents with the propeller pedal drive, offering a smooth cycling motion and instant reverse for tight maneuvers or fighting fish. A sturdy skeg protects the propeller, which is simple and inexpensive to replace—unlike complex fin systems. Upgrade your angling adventure today!

Its wide profile provides excellent stability on the water, though each section is slightly heavier—still manageable for one person to carry. With its size, the Recon is best suited for medium-sized cars, striking a practical balance between portability and on-water performance.

FAQs

The Recon 10ft splits into two halves — front section approximately 63" x 35" x 11", back section approximately 63" x 35" x 12.5" — that fit in the trunk or back seat of most SUVs, hatchbacks, and many sedans without a roof rack or trailer. Each section weighs roughly 33–39 lbs, so one person can load it solo.

Yes. The Recon uses a 35-inch wide hull with a flat W-shape designed for stand-up stability. Most anglers up to around 230 lbs can stand and fish comfortably in calm water. Heavier paddlers, or those fishing in strong current or boat wake, may prefer to fish seated for the best stability.

The Recon 10ft has a weight capacity of 400 lbs. That figure includes you, your gear, tackle, fish finder, battery, cooler, and any catch — plan around the loaded weight, not just body weight.

A propeller drive uses a screw prop that's faster in open water and offers instant reverse — handy for backing away from docks, holding position in current, or maneuvering near structure. A fin drive uses two paddle-like flaps that move side-to-side as you pedal — silent, weed-free, and better in shallows around structure. The Recon 10ft is propeller-drive; the Radar 10ft is the equivalent fin-drive model if you want stealth and shallow-water clearance over speed and reverse.

Yes. The Recon has a built-in transducer recess that fits standard puck transducers from Lowrance, Garmin, Humminbird, and others — no drilling required. Wiring routes through the scupper holes, and a deep battery box plus a cockpit storage hatch let you run a full fish-finder and battery setup from day one. Mount dimensions are 1.77" x 2.16" x 0.82" — check your transducer's specs against these.

Under 5 minutes once you're familiar with it. The two sections interlock at the seam and clip together with no tools required. Roll the kayak on its side once to access the underside latches.

Yes — four mounting options: the rear transom, a side-mount bar, the pedal-drive recess, or the nose mount. A reinforced rear mount, deep battery box, and recessed transducer mount are built in, so you can run a trolling motor and a fish-finder/sonar setup together.

Every Reel Yaks kayak comes with a clear, no-nonsense warranty designed to protect you from manufacturing defects.

• Hull & deck: 2 years (full-price kayaks)

• Pedal drive: 1 year

• Parts & accessories: 90 days

The warranty applies to the original purchaser and covers defects in materials and workmanship. It does not cover normal wear and tear, misuse, accidents, transport damage after delivery, unauthorized modifications, or commercial use. Kayaks must be registered within 30 days of purchase.

Yes, returns are accepted within 30 days of delivery provided the kayak is unused and in original condition. Before returning any item, you must contact our support team to obtain a Return Authorization (RA).

Please note:

  • Customers are responsible for return shipping costs
  • Sale items are non-refundable

We recommend reviewing product specifications carefully before purchasing to ensure the kayak is the right fit for your needs.

Kayak shipping is free within the contiguous USA and Canada. Kayaks ship via freight (LTL). The carrier will contact you 24–48 hours prior to delivery to schedule drop‑off.

• In‑stock kayaks: typically 1–2 weeks after shipment

• Peak periods: processing may take 2–6 weeks

• Custom color or made‑to‑order kayaks: approximately 7–11 weeks

Once your order ships, ReelYaks emails you a tracking number/BOL (freight tracking). You can also use the website's Order Tracking page to check status anytime.

Yes. Reel Yaks kayaks are modular hard‑shell designs that break down into 2 or 3 manageable sections. They fit in many sedans, hatchbacks, and SUVs and store easily in apartments or garages. No roof racks or trailers required. Assembly is tool‑free and takes only minutes once familiar.
