Let customers speak for us
from 134 reviewsI purchased the 9.8ft Rocket Propeller Drive Modular Pedal Fishing Kayak, and I couldn't be happier with my decision. Every single feature on this kayak has exceeded my expectations. It’s clear a lot of thought went into the design—from performance to convenience.
The modular two-piece build makes transport and storage incredibly easy, even for someone with limited garage space. Snapping the pieces together is simple and secure. The pedal drive system is smooth and efficient, giving me hands-free operation while fishing—an absolute game changer.
Stability is top-notch. Whether casting, reeling in, or just cruising, I feel completely confident on the water. The 400lb capacity easily handles my gear without affecting performance. The adjustable seating is surprisingly comfortable for long outings, and the built-in storage options are more than enough for all my tackle and accessories.
What really impressed me was the attention to detail—from rod holders to the hull design that tracks well and handles chop effortlessly. This kayak is truly built with the angler in mind.
If you're considering this kayak, stop thinking and just go for it. It’s well-built, well-equipped, and a total joy to use. Thank you, Reelyaks, for delivering such an exceptional product!
I love this kayak! I have 3 other kayaks that weigh about 85 lbs. each. Where we typically kayak is a long trek hauling heavy kayaks from the truck to the water. I'm a 56 year old woman, and can easily manage this new kayak by myself. This was my first time using a kayak with peddles, and it is super convenient and free up my hands for fishing. Highly recommend!
OMG - Money most well spent! A PERFECT kayak for exercise, hands free operation (if you choose), wide and stable (I take my dog out on it all the time - fits in the front or back and he's 55#. I bought the modular as I travel with my camper and regular kayaks are too long to fit in the bed of the truck or underneath the camper this is PERFECT - well made, all components so well thought out and such great exercise - I could not be happier and I try to use it every day - TY!
I bought this kayak because I can't lift a heavy kayak. The two pieces are easy to load into my 2017 Toyota Highlander with the back seats down. My two dogs fit in the back (one is 35 lbs. and one is 75lbs.) I took the front cover off the kayak and the littler one sits up front and the big guy sits in the back. Kayak is easy to put together and pedal around smaller calm lakes. Very comfortable. Customer service from Reel Yaks is excellent.
The kayak locks together with 3 latches on the bottom and two on the top. There is no leaking at the connection between the two sections.
It comes with the seat risers so don't buy them.
It is stable to sit in but I don't feel confident to try standing.
The pedal fin system works well. Water is not a problem in the area where the paddles assembly drops into the bottom of the kayak.
Bringing up the rudder with the provided small rope pulley system is very difficult.
The seat is perfect. The straps that hold the back of the chair in place do not interfere with my arms.
I"m 68 in half decent shape, but I can move the kayak along just fine with the pedals.
I don't have a problem with keeping the kayak away from the shore. I can turn the rudder full in the direction away from the shore or obstacle and it will drift away from the obstacle. The couple of times I got stuck on a log I pulled up the rudder (difficult), pulled up the pedals (easy), and pushed off with the paddle.
I bought the 7" hummingbird fish finder but I think the 5" would have served better for the space and track available.
I tried mounting the transponder in the space designed for it, underneath, with screws but they would not hold. The transponder did not fit the width for the built-in threads. I finally modified the included transponder mount by drilling a new hole close to the edge of the mount. Then I used the bolt and built-in threaded input, which worked.
I'm not sure how you could go wrong with this fishing kayak.
Came very quickly, and looks incredible. Can't wait to get it out there on the water. Love the modular design, and ability to carry it in my jeep.
Hubby LOVES his fishing kayak! On our last camping trip, we camped next to a couple that had the "come-apart" kayaks (different brand) and they let him try it out. When we got home he did some research and decided on the Reel Yaks because he wanted one primarily for fishing. He is really, really happy he made the decision to get the ReelYak.
Why did it take so long for someone to invent the modular kayak? I will never go back to a 1-piece yak. So much easier to load/unload two pieces from the back of my SUV. 35" beam makes it very stable...easy to stand up if your balance is good. Given the wide width and short length, it is not fast or track dead straight (as expected). Lots of useful features for fisherman.
Two minor shortcomings: The supplied 220cm paddle is too short for the kayak's width. Most paddlers will need a 250-260cm paddle. I paddle to fishing spots then use the fin drive when fishing. Lock washers should be included to secure wing nuts to rudder cables. Wing nut came loose and fell overboard on second trip, rendering the rudder useless. Easy fix with trip to hardware store.
Fully assembled, the yak weighs close to 100 pounds. You will want a scupper hole kayak dolly to wheel it from your vehicle to the water. Handles on both ends and sides makes this a snap.
Yeah...1-piece yaks cost less. For me, the convenience and ease of storing and transporting a modular yak is worth the investment.
Very well build and great quality

Why you will love it
The Raptor is ideal for city anglers without a roof rack, breaking down to fit in your car or closet. Despite its 9.5 ft size, it offers a 380 lb capacity, rod holders, gear tracks, and a stadium seat. Nimble and easy to maneuver in tight waters, it can also expand with a middle section into a tandem kayak.
-
Pedal power
This system's flaps ensure silent, obstacle-free movement, allowing you to glide through shallows, near docks, and around stumps without getting tangled in reeds or weeds. At just 11lbs, it's lighter and faster than prop Pedal Powers, giving you a speed advantage and letting you carry extra gear. The sleek, compact design makes it easier to store when not in use. Upgrade your angling adventure today!

Reel talk
Like any specialized gear, the Raptor makes smart trade-offs—its slimmer, nimble design delivers excellent maneuverability and seated stability, though standing to fish needs a bit more balance (easily solved with affordable stabilizers). It lacks a recessed transducer mount, but one can be rail-mounted, and the two-position seat fits many heights, though less adjustable than a rail-mounted seat.

The Bixy comes with the K1 motor (38lbs thrust), ECU, battery and motor mount.
